Technical Details:

I primarily use a very dark stoneware clay, Sheltowee, that fires to cone six, approximately 2232F. I recently have developed glazes that compliment the dark clay body and are safe for every day use, can be used in the microwave and in the dishwasher.

Base Glaze Recipe:

Nepheline Syenite 64.90

Dolomite 21.40

3134 9.40

Ball Clay 4.40

Zircopax 8

Bentonite 4

I have added red iron oxide, copper carbonate, tin, and cobalt to get the variation of colors and surfaces you see in my work.
